Description
Coed-y-Foel is a recent 41ha gross acquisition for the Woodland Trust, adjacent to an existing land holding, it is a case study to see what effect the Carbon Code has on our Purchase, Plant and Pass-on project, known as PPP. This particular project seeks to acquire bare land for successful woodland creation and sell the land on as a demonstration that creating woodland does not necessarily reduce land value. It also meets the Trust’s objectives of increasing woodland cover in the UK.
The key objective is to achieve high conservation value woodland expansion, through expanding Coed y Foel by woodland creation on land we retain and on plots we sell on through the PPP. We also propose to demonstrate how tree cover can be increased on commercially farmed land by reselling one block of land as pasture but following investment in strengthening hedges, tree belts and field trees.
