Description
Malagie is a native pinewood woodland creation scheme near Whitebridge to the south of Loch Ness. It is 82% Scots pine (75% when including integral open ground) with a proportion of native mixed broadleaves. The management objective is to establish native woodland which will be capable of supporting a diverse range of native flora and fauna, extending the area of existing Ancient (Semi-Natural) Woodland in the valley. While putting to good use the productive potential of the ground the planting also meets carbon sequestration objectives and will provide future shelter for game and stock. Long term management will be by minimal intervention.
