Description
The Freshwater Trust removed invasive plants and installed native riparian vegetation on the mainstem Rogue River in Jackson County, Oregon. This project site provides critical habitat for spring and fall Chinook and steelhead. Much of the riparian vegetation in this section of the basin has been altered, dramatically reduced in size or eliminated. Once restored, this section of the Rogue River will provide long-term shade to the system, enhance native fish and wildlife habitat and improve riparian function. The landowners have granted The Freshwater Trust access to the site for the 20 year life of the project for the purposes of monitoring and maintenance. Credits were calculated using Heat Source version 8.0.8. This project site generated 127,390,910 kcals/day but the City of Medford only needed 64,914,029 kcals/day to achieve permit compliance, so the remaining 62,476,881 kcals/day generated from this project have not been sold to Medford but will instead continue to be held by The Freshwater Trust.
