The Freshwater Trust removed invasive plants and installed native riparian vegetation along Ashland Creek, just upstream of the confluence with Bear Creek, a tributary to the Rogue River in Jackson County, Oregon. This project site provides critical streamside riparian habitat by restoring and expanding the riparian buffer. Much of the riparian vegetation in this section of the basin has been altered, dramatically reduced in size or eliminated, and invasive species have come to dominate the understory. Once restored, this section of the waterway will provide long-term shade to the system, enhance native fish and wildlife habitat and improve riparian function. This site is owned by the City of Ashland and managed by the Ashland Parks Department. The City has granted The Freshwater Trust access to the site for the 20 year life of the project for the purposes of monitoring and maintenance.
